The Most Important Office in this Democracy is the Citizen
My 4 Key Takeaways from Today's Protest
We are in a dire moment for American democracy, and we need not just protest but do everything we can to stop this Regime. Today thousands showed up with signs and with energy and with loud voices in Seattle and across the Nation. Though I was behind on packing to get on an airplane tonight to Spring break holiday with my daughter and her friend, I got up early this morning and took the light rail to Seattle with my vocal friends.
Here are my key takeaways from today:
The amount of pain you feel saving democracy should be proportionate to your paycheck. If you have treasure, contribute treasure. If you have time, contribute time.
Democracies don’t fall in years. They fall in months.
People must resist at every turn to stop a dictator. (This includes universities, law firms, businesses). You must resist even if it will be painful. Get in the way.
While we listened to speakers energize the crowd, and demand accountability from our representatives, I thought a lot about what Barck Obama said yesterday at Hamilton University: “It is up to all of us to fix this. It’s not going to be because somebody comes and saves ya. The most important office in this democracy is the citizen, the ordinary person who says, ‘No, that’s not right.’”
No one’s coming to save us. Don’t put off standing up, speaking out, and resisting. We’re who’s coming. Don’t stop til freedom is restored.
Democracies don’t die only at night, they also die during the day when citizens aren’t paying attention! Another reason distractions, diversions and deflections are employed to keep the public distracted and controlled! Whatever works, it’s been done throughout history usually to excellent effect! We must learn from history, sooner rather than later, please! Open a Book- buy, rent, or borrow, whatever. Do yourself and your country a favor, find some inspiration and start reading, Remember, Critical Thinking does help! 👍🇨🇦🇺🇦📚📚📚📚🏴🇫🇮🐻🐧💪🇪🇺🏴🇬🇧🇮🇪🇳🇴😎🪼🌎
I'm proud of all the Americans protesting collectively today. Take back your country.
